Community Charity Quilt 2023
At the October meeting Jennifer proposed a community quilt as a group project, which will be donated to charity.
Block 1
We started this month with a heart-shaped piece of fabric which we appliqued on to a larger piece of background material. It was not an easy challenge, for many of our members the needle-turn technique was new to them, but at the end of the evening 17 blocks were handed in and there are more to follow. Some members also took away templates of the alphabet to complete at home.
Here are some blocks in progress on the night..........
...... and here are some completed blocks at the end of the session.....
...... with more being completed at home.
Block 2
Uses three different fabrics and the instructions will be given out at the next meeting in November.
Jennifer brought in these beautiful examples of needle-turn applique created by her and members of her family.
At the first meeting of 2024, Jennifer showed the current progress of the community quilt project. She has now put together some of the blocks 1 and 2 that have been created by members, yet to be backed and quilted. She is hoping for more blocks to complete a second quilt.
At the February 2024 meeting, Jennifer brought in the first completed community quilt. Members have been generous with their time and blocks and she has almost enough to complete the 2nd quilt. Norma kindly offered to provide the required pieces.
In June 2024, Jennifer brought in the second and final community quilt. Many thanks to all members who contributed to these charity quilts
